As I sit here taking phone calls from high school teachers and coaches from all over the country and solving all their sportswear problems, I thought I might take a moment of downtime and give a little update on what’s been going on lately. Obviously the people I’m priviledged to spend time with will be up to date on most things, but those whom I don’t have the pleasure of seeing on a regular basis may find a useful nugget of information. Or not, it’s up to you.
So I officially have 5 days left at my job as a customer service rep with Ares Sportswear in Columbus, Ohio and I’ll be moving out to Dayton, Ohio at the end of this week, the day after my last day of work. Booyah. I never thought I’d actually be moving out to Dayton after I graduated from Cedarville, it was always either Columbus or somewhere far away….but God’s ways are not my own, and I love that truth. The reason for the Dayton move is to further pursue our collective dream and vision for our band, Wolves At The Gate. (We’re also looking to further our bluegrass side project, Sheep At The Fence, so hit me up if you know a place that will have us come play). God has insanely blessed our crazy journey together as a band, starting way back in April 2008 in Steve’s living room, playing shows for 20 hyped-up Cedarville buddies. We’ve come a long way since then, and the Lord has seen it fit to give us an official record label contract with Tooth and Nail/Solid State Records. We could not be more excited right now, as this means that we will be pursuing this whole band thing for the next handful of years at least, as long as the Lord sees fit to continue to bless it. This also means that we’ll be hitting the road soon for tour (looks like early November), which will end up becoming our day job in the days to come. Bands spend the majority of the year on the road, so needless to say it will be a major adjustment just in terms of learning how to do life traveling around to different places every day on the road. You could also say that tour = learning to live with 4 other smelly dudes in a cramped area, but honestly I’ve done that ever since I graduated from Cedarville so whatever, right?
So as I’ve mentioned earlier, the next few months will bring loads of change in my life, with the move and touring and all that jazz. It’s pretty easy to get a little overwhelmed with everything at times, but I’m so ready to do this thing and God’s made it so clear that this is His plan for my life that I can’t help but just attack it with energy and passion. Living life as God intended is truly the only way to live; everything else is a pale shadow of what life COULD be like, no matter how awesome I might think my life is like on my own. I covet your prayers for the ministry of WATG as we’ll be sharing the Gospel every night on tour; we have no preconceived notions that the Gospel will be accepted by everyone that hears it, but we’re called to share the Good News and that’s what we intend to do wherever we go. I love and need all of you in my life as we take this journey together.
Love and peace, brothers and sisters.
